The VRF abbreviation comes from Variable Refrigerant Flow.
VRF uses refrigerant as the cooling/heating medium and allows one outdoor condensing unit to be connected to multiple indoor fan-coil units (FCU’s), each individually controllable by its user, while modulating the amount of refrigerant being sent to each evaporator.
By operating at varying speeds, VRF units work only at the needed rate allowing for substantial energy savings at part-load conditions.
VRF system normally consists of:
Outdoor unit (1)
Multiple indoor units (2) (the whole system may consist of 6 or more devices – up to 80)
Connection network among outdoor unit and indoor units – double copper pipe (3)
Set of branching joints (as a connection element) (4).
ALL types of indoor units available: concealed, cabinet, cassette etc.
An air source VRF system is engineered to minimize or use no ductwork as a saving, save on the cost of large distribution fans, multiple water pumps operation and water piping.
Energy efficient and easy to design, install, and maintain, a VRF system has the lowest life cycle cost* of any system on the market today
Life cycle cost is the total cost of ownership of machinery and equipment, including its cost of acquisition, operation, maintenance, conversion and/or decommission.
